Greg Metze, Master Distiller

Greg Metze began consulting following a 38-year career at one of the world’s largest distilleries, which specialized in Bourbon Whiskeys, Rye Whiskey, Exotic Whiskeys, Batch Light Whiskey, Gin and Vodka production. The distillery is the former Seagram’s Distillery located in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

After graduating from the University of Cincinnati in 1978 with a B. S. in Chemical Engineering, Metze spent his entire professional career preparing for his Master Distiller role which he acquired in 2002. The path took him from entry level shift supervisory positions, to maintenance, engineering, and on to production where he learned the fine art of running a distillery that prided itself on consistently producing high-quality distilled spirits.  Throughout his nearly four decade career, Metze leveraged his technical background and acquired knowledge of distillery practices to produce products that customers appreciated.

As a consultant, he wants to share his passion and experience with others by teaching the fine art of producing premium distilled spirits.

Metze resides in Cincinnati, OH where he enjoys spending time with family, boating, skiing, hunting and working on home projects.
